The Children’s of Alabama Patient Safety Educator is offering tips designed to keep children safe when they ride their bicycles. The first tip, not surprisingly, advised all members of the family to wear helmets, as doing so greatly reduces the risk of an injury. The helmets should fit appropriately in order to gain the most benefit. The various components of the bicycle, such as brakes, tire, chain, and more, should also be well-maintained so as to avoid disaster. And finally, the bike’s size should be appropriate to the kid riding it.
