Wheel Detachment Risk Prompts CTW To Recall Boat Trailers

Posted on August 14, 2012

Boat trailers of the 2011 and 2012 model years have been recalled by California Trailer Works.  Only 12 units are affected by the recall, which was necessitated due to a potential defect with their Carlisle Transport Product wheels.  Upon mounting, there exists the possibility the wheels did not get torqued adequately.  If this is the case, the wheels could detach from the vehicle, acting as a projectile to other vehicles on the road and posing a crash hazard to the driver of the trailer itself.  Owners will be contacted and free repairs will be made.
