Stainless Steel Dog Bowls Recalled by Petco for Radiation Risk

Posted on

A stainless steel dog bowl has been recalled by Petco because of the bowl’s potential to be contaminated with excessive levels of Cobalt-60.  Cobalt-60 is a radioactive substance, and the bowls thus give off radiation.  Although the levels being emitted are below the ceiling established by federal regulations, and indeed there should be no threat to public (or animal) safety, Petco has opted to recall and quarantine the bowls as a precaution.  Most items were called back from shelves before they reached consumers’ hands.  Customers that did buy them can get a refund.
