A threat posed by floor mats on the driver’s side of the vehicle has led to the recall of 8,500 M-Class sport utility vehicles by Mercedes-Benz. Affected vehicles are the ML63, the ML550, and the ML350 of the 2012 and 2013 model years. The gas pedal can become trapped in the down position because of the defective mats. Owners are being advised to remove the mats from the vehicles until the company can provide free replacements.
