Ontario Officials Try to Curb Distracted Driving With New Campaign

Posted on August 9, 2012

The Ministry of Transportation has partnered with the Ontario Provincial Police and CAA South Central Ontario to create a campaign that aims to reduce distracted driving. The Transportation Minister believes that Ontario’s roads are safer than anywhere else on the continent, and officials would like to keep it that way. Recent studies have shown that a driver who is texting is 23 times as likely to be in a motor vehicle accident. Some tips on preventing distracted driving are to turn off the phone in the vehicle, pre-program the GPS, and set the thermostat and radio before putting a car into drive.
