Sturgis Police Call for Safe Motorcycle Riding in Wake of Tragedy

Posted on August 7, 2012

Over the course of 12 hours, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally already saw three fatalities.  The deaths occurred on Sunday and Monday, and to counteract further tragedy, safety officials are stressing the need for safety.  Police are particularly concerned about alcohol usage and speeding.  The other worry is that the beautiful scenery can provide a distraction among South Dakota’s twisty roads and sharp drops.  Officers are out in full force to enforce various road safety laws.
