Georgia Troubled By Pedestrian Fatality Rates Highlighted by NHTSA

Posted on August 7, 2012

New statistics released by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration have given Georgia officials cause for concern.  Even though motor vehicle crashes have gone down, pedestrian fatality rates have been on the rise in Georgia since 2001.  Because of the decline in overall crash fatalities, pedestrian deaths also take up a larger slice of the pie, with 13.5% of all fatalities being incurred by people on foot.  This puts Georgia higher than the national average, with 168 people killed throughout the state in 2010.
