Roof Hatch Defect Prompts Micro Bird to Recall G5 School Buses

Posted on August 3, 2012

11 G5 school buses of the 2011 and 2012 model years have been recalled by Micro Bird because of a defect in their Prolo roof hatches.  The rear plate assemblies might have increased friction, which could lead to the component having an opening force that is higher than what is allowed under federal standards.  This issue would impede an occupant’s safe and speedy exit from the bus.  Free service kits will be provided to dealers by Specialty Manufacturing, the producer of the hatches.
