Listeria Risk Prompts Publix to Recall Customized Sub Sandwiches

Posted on August 1, 2012

Publix Super Markets is the latest grocery chain to announce a recall due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a certain product.  The recall concerns any custom-made sandwich that was sold to customers through the deli from July 7 through July 26.  The Listeria threat stems from sliced onions supplied by Gills Onions.  Affected subs were only sold in Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia.  Refunds can be obtained from the Publix where the sandwiches were bought.
