After killing two men while texting and driving, a Utah teenager is advocating for tough laws against the practice. Talking to a radio program called Here & Now, the individual explained that he used to engage in the behavior all the time behind the wheel, thinking there wasn’t a problem. He also told lawmakers about the seriousness of the issue because he doesn’t want other families to go through what he put others through. Under a new Utah law, offenders will face 15 years in prison if it’s discovered that their texting contributed to a motor vehicle fatality.
