S80 Vehicles Recalled by Volvo Over Possible Inability to Downshift

Posted on July 16, 2012

S80 vehicles of model years from 2011 through 2013 are being recalled by Volvo.  The 1,469 automobiles have a transmission defect wherein downshifting might be impossible when the vehicle is coasting.  This safety issue, which is caused by a software error, can cause the RPMs to decrease drastically and might even lead to an engine stall and a crash.  Free software upgrades can be had from a dealer.
