Operation Brainsave Provides Kids With Incentives to Wear Bike Helmets

Posted on July 18, 2012

Paramedics from Ontario’s Haldimand County are taking part in a program known as Operation Brainsave.  The operation is designed to promote the importance of using a bike helmet while riding a bicycle.  It works like this:  if a paramedic sees a kid wearing a helmet while on a bike (or a skateboard, rollerblades, etc.), they have the option of giving the child a McDonald’s or Dairy Queen coupon.  Children who are spotted without a helmet will find themselves discussing the issue with a medic and being given a coupon for a discount on the purchase of one.
