New California Hands-Free Texting Law Called Into Question Yet Again

Drivers can now text in the state of California, so long as they dictate those text messages through hands-free voice-activated devices. The law introduced by a Corona Republican Assemblyman and signed into law by the Governor passed the Assembly and Senate with little opposition.  Although such devices are hands-free, many think they are equally distracting to a driver, including a columnist with The Press Democrat, who argues that the new law could be confusing.
