Hospira Recalls 19 Lots of Drugs For Visible Particle Risk

Posted on July 16, 2012

The injury risk inherent with visible particles being injected into a person’s bloodstream has led to the recall of carboplatin, methotrexate, paclitaxel, and cytarabine injections by Hospira.  The particles may potentially be found in the glass vials from 19 lots of the affected items, and these particles, once injected, could lead to symptoms that include rashes, itching, bleeding, and breathing problems.  No one has been injured as of yet, and doctors have been asked to quarantine the items.
