Auto insurance provider 4autoinsurancequote.com has found that texting while driving increases insurance rates. They also found that texting has more than doubled since 2005 and that mobile phone-related accidents increased sharply around 2008. In 2009 there were over 24,000 injury accidents due to mobile phone use (1,000 additional crashes led to fatalities). Greater awareness of the dangers of texting while driving may lead to reversing these trends.
