The Long Beach Police Department held a Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation this past Saturday thanks to a grant provided by the state and the federal government. The effort found officers on the lookout for violations such as intoxicated driving in areas where motorcycles are prevalent. Last month saw a similar operation conducted. That effort found officers issuing citations for 25 helmet and equipment violations and 23 moving violations (three of which involved motorcycles). It also led to the impounding of one motorcycle. The police seek to reduce motorcycle fatalities and injuries.
