217,500 Tributes Recalled by Mazda For Unintended Acceleration Risk

Posted on July 31, 2012

217,500 Tribute vehicles of the model years 2001 through 2006 (plus 2008) are being recalled by Mazda.  There is a risk that, when the driver presses the gas pedal, the throttle can become stuck and send the vehicle hurtling down the road at unreasonable speeds.  This issue is due to inadequate clearance between the speed control cable connector and the engine cover component.  Owners will be contacted by Mazda and repairs will be conducted by dealers once parts come in in August.
