Hyundai has announced the recall of 22,512 Sonata vehicles of the 2012 and 2013 model years. A manufacturing error might lead the side curtain airbags in these vehicles to activate without a crash taking place. This could both injure the occupants of the vehicle and distract any driver who has to suddenly switch his focus from the road to the deployed airbag. Owners will receive a notification in August, at which point dealers will conduct free repairs.
