Ford Escape SUVs Recalled Due to Potential Stuck Throttle Defect

Posted on July 27, 2012

Ford has announced the recall of nearly half a million Escape SUVs of the 2001 through 2004 model years.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall is due to an issue with the throttle which could lead to unmanageable speeds. The Escapes being recalled were produced between October 22, 1999 and January 23, 2004. Dealers will provide an intermediary solution involving the disconnection of the cruise control or replace the requisite parts beginning August 6, when the recall is set to begin.
