Iowans Issued Week-Long Cellphone Abstinence Challenge by DOT

Posted on July 17, 2012

The Iowa Department of Transportation is challenging the citizens of Iowa to keep their phones out of reach while driving for the next seven days. They believe that such drivers’ ability to maintain focus will increase due to the lack of a cell phone distracting them. An increasing number of road fatalities and crashes are caused by distracted driving.  For those who choose to take up the challenge, the DOT is asking participants to talk about their experience on the DOT’s own Facebook page.
