Another recall has been issued, and this time it affects slightly more than 100 vehicles that contain a certain component.
The recall was announced by Spartan Chassis, and concerns their Gladiator Emergency Rescue Chassis of model years between 2010 and 2012. Each of the affected products was produced between April 12, 2010 and this past June 5, and each of them came with a fan clutch assembly and an ISX 15L engine from Cummins. 102 chassis in total are affected by this particular recall.
At issue is the fact that the fasteners that attach a fan clutch mounting bracket directly to the engine’s front side can sheer. When this happens, the fan clutch, mounting bracket, and cooling fan components can become dislodged from all other components. This poses a threat when the cab is in the raised position. Personal injury under these circumstances becomes a distinct possibility.
Owners can expect to receive a notification from Spartan Chassis. This notification should be sent out on July 13 or at some point thereabouts. Once an owner receives the notification, they will be able to receive repairs, but there’s no word on if this remedy will be carried out free of charge.
