New Zealand Children’s Sleepsuits Recalled Due to Choking Hazard

Posted on June 18, 2012

A children’s product available throughout New Zealand has been recalled because of the threat is poses to a child’s safety.

The recall was announced by The Warehouse Ltd and concerns a product known as Pink Stripes Wee Babes Cotton Sleepsuits.  The articles of clothing were available for purchase between April 9 and May 14 of this year.  They were sold at The Warehouse stores across the country, and only those items with pink stripes are affected.  These affected items have a model number of W12 9999990891393.  This number can be found on the care label near the back neck section of the sleepsuit.

These items being recalled have what are known as domes.  These domes can become detached from the item while the child is wearing it.  If this happen, there is the risk that the child could swallow the domes, thus posing a clear threat to safety.  There also exists the danger that a child’s skin could be irritated if it makes contact with that dome section of the article of clothing.

Anyone in possession of this product is being advised to take the item away from the child and to bring it into a The Warehouse store in order to receive a refund.  The company is asking that customers bring the receipt in with the compromised product if at all possible.
