Labeling errors prompt Crossroads Cruiser RV recall

Posted on June 1, 2012

At the request of the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Crossroads Recreational Vehicles Incorporated has announced a recall for 77 of its Crossroads Cruiser Recreational Vehicles. This voluntary recall has been issued in response to a labeling error that provides erroneous information to consumers that may lead to an accident risk. The recreational vehicles affected by this recall are model year 2011 Crossroads Cruiser Recreational Vehicles, which were labeled with incorrect federal identification and informational tags providing false information about the vehicle’s specifications. The tags and labels on affected recreational vehicles do not comply with federal motor vehicle safety guidelines pertaining to tire selection and rims for motor vehicles other than passenger cars. If the vehicle is loaded in accordance to the incorrect information provided on the labels, the additional weight may cause tire damage leading to an increased likelihood that the recreational vehicle will become involved in an accident causing serious injury or death. Recreational vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between August of 2010 and December of 2010. Crossroads Recreational Vehicles Incorporated has announced plans to begin notifying consumers in possession of affected recreational vehicles and sending them labels with correct information to affix over the top of the erroneous labels. More information about this recall can be obtained by calling the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline and referencing NHSTA campaign identification number 12V232000.
