Laceration Risk Prompts Recall of 4,000 Kitchen Selectives Blenders

Posted on May 24, 2012

An item that was sold by retailers across the Midwest is being recalled because of the laceration threat it poses to consumers.

The Lenexa, Kentucky-based Select Brands Inc. announced the recall, which concerns the Kitchen Selectives 6-Speed Blender.  The item, which was imported by the firm from China, has the model number BL-15 emblazoned upon its base.  The unit consists of a six inch tall base, a plastic pitcher, a white lid, and two stainless steel blades on a plastic assembly.

The recall, which affects just over 4,000 units, was initiated because the pitcher portion of the item can become dislodged from the rest of the blender while in use, leaving the blades exposed.  Anyone nearby would be in danger of coming into contact with these whirling blades.  Thankfully, such an occurrence has yet to be reported to the firm.

The items were only sold at Pamida and Sutherlands, retail chains with locations scattered across Midwest states.  They were available for about $20 between June 2009 and this past April.  Anyone who has this item in their possession is being advised to cease usage as soon as possible.  Consumers are then being directed to return the item to the Pamida or Sutherlands that it was bought from, where they can expect to get a complete refund on the defective product.
