Circle W trailers recalled due to brake failure risk

Posted on May 1, 2012

At the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Circle W Trailers has announced a voluntary recall of four of its trailer models due to safety risks posed by an improperly manufactured auto part. Specific models of the Circle W Gooseneck Livestock trailers sold in model year 2011 are equipped with Dexter Axle brand electric hydraulic brake actuator pumps that may not have been adequately heat treated during the manufacturing process. This potential oversight may increase the possibility that the electric hydraulic actuator pump may fail prematurely during the course of routine use. The electric hydraulic actuator pump provides power to the trailer’s brakes, and the pump’s unexpected failure may lead to the trailer’s brakes ceasing to function properly, increasing the risk that the vehicle’s operator will lose control of the trailer and become involved in a traffic collision that might result in serious injury or death.  Model numbers affected by this recall include the following: CWT68288K, CWT68327K, CWT68328K, CWT7327K. Circle W is currently notifying affected owners of the potential safety issue. Consumers may return affected trailers to authorized dealerships where the acutator pump will be replaced at no cost.

As a San Francisco car accident attorney, I hope that this recall is effectively carried out before this potential defect leads to any injuries or property damage. If you or someone you care for has been injured in an accident linked to a malfunctioning vehicle, please consider contacting a personal injury lawyer in San Francisco.
