Possible brake defect prompts Trike Motorcycles recall

Posted on April 13, 2012

Mobility Conquest Limited Liability Company has announced the voluntary recall of 48 of its Trike Motorcycles sold during model year 2009 and 2010 due to a potential brake defect. The Trike Motorcycle’s hydraulic service brakes may contain hoses, lines, piping and fittings that are prone to malfunction. The heat resistant protective insulation lining may not be sufficient to prevent heat dispelled by the motorcycle’s exhaust reflector from melting the brake line, causing a brake fluid leak. If the motorcycle’s brake fluid reservoir becomes depleted, the vehicle’s brakes may fail, increasing the operator’s risk of becoming involved in a potentially harmful or deadly collision.

The motorcycle manufacturer will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles of the potential safety issue. Vehicles with possibly defective brake lines can be returned to licensed Mobility Conquest dealers where they will be repaired at no cost to the consumer. For more information on the recall, contact the manufacturer directly, or call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline and reference campaign identification number 12V157000.
