The voluntary recall M.E. Thompson issued for its Anytime Deli Turkey & Ham Footlong sandwiches has been expanded to include the Classic Cuban and Italian Footlong sandwiches as well, due to the possibility that these sandwiches have been contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes. Potentially contaminated sandwiches were distributed to retail outlets throughout the United States between January and April of 2012. The products affected by the recall have been imprinted with expiration dates ranging from January 19, 2012 to May 2, 2012 and originated from lot numbers 00112 through 10412. Turkey & Ham Footlong sandwiches with the universal product code 0543200194, Classic Cuban sandwiches with the universal product code 0543200156, and Italian Footlong sandwiches with the universal product code 0543200196. The label imprinted with the universal product code can be found affixed to the underside of the sandwich’s white butcher paper packaging. The lot number and expiration date are stamped on a round white label, also affied to the sandwich’s packaging. Listeria Monocytogenes is an organism that can infect individuals with weakened immune systems, such as children and the elderly.
