Glenmark Generics Announces Recall of Birth Control

Posted on February 24, 2012

The latest recall we have to share involves a birth control device that was improperly packaged.

Glenmark Generics has announced a recall of birth control pills distributed between December 21 and December 30 because the pills were placed into the package in the wrong order.  Seven lots are affected by this particular recall.

There’s a distinct possibility that, if the pills are not taken in the correct order, then the birth control will fail.  A month’s supply of the product includes three separate pills that much be taken for a week each, with a fourth inert pill also provided.  When these pills are consumed out of order, it compromises the viability of the medicine.

The pills fell out of the proper sequence because the blisters that contain the pills were improperly rotated, which also made it more difficult to tell what the lot number and and expiration date are.  Glenmark has stated that if you can’t see the expiration date and the lot number on the item, then you are probably in possession of one of the recalled products.

As a personal injury lawyer in San Francisco, I think it’s important that consumers heed all recall information out there.  It’s too bad that this particular product contains this kind of error, as many people rely on such medicine to always work properly.  It’s my hope as a Bakersfield personal injury lawyer that everyone who would be affected knows about this information.
