Numerous Diet Supplements Recalled Over Presence of Drugs

Posted on February 6, 2012

A number of dietary supplement products have been recalled by Healthy People Company because Food and Drug Administration testing revealed that they contained Sibutramine and Tadalafil.  The products, all dietary supplements, are Mince Belle, PERFECT Men, EVERLAX, EVER Slim, Herbal Drink Acai-Man Mangosteen, EVER SLIM Strawbbery Shake Mix, and EVER SLIM Chocolate Shake Mix.

The presence of the two drugs classifies all of the products mentioned as unapproved new drugs.  Sibutramine is used as an appetite suppressant to help treat obesity, but it should only be taken under the guidance of a physician due to the risks associated with the product, including increased blood pressure and risk of stroke.

Tadalafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction.  This product has been known to lower blood pressure, plus it can have a negative reaction with prescriptions that can contain nitrates.  These prescriptions are usually given to people with diabetes or heart disease.

The recalled products were sold at the Healthy People store in Irwindale, California, and can be returned there for a complete refund.

As an injury lawyer, I know how dangerous drugs can be if they’re not approved by the FDA.  Approval procedures are in place to keep consumers safe, and I’m glad to see a recall used to correct the circumvention of these important procedures.  It’s my hope as a Los Angeles personal injury attorney that no one gets hurt as a result of the drugs contained within these products.
