Recall: Giant Bicycle Due To Fall Hazard

According to news sources, a recall has been issued for about 900 units of 2012 Model Year Giant Defy Advanced and Avail Advanced Bicycles after it was discovered that the fork can crack, resulting in a potential fall hazard for unsuspecting riders.

The recall was announced by the company, Giant Bicycle, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission after it was found that the fork can crack and potentially pose a fall hazard. The recalled bicycle models include the Giant Defy Advanced with model number 0, 1 and 2, as well as Giant Avail Advanced bicycles with models  0, 1, and 2.

There have been no reports of injury to date.

The recalled bicycles will receive a replacement of the fork and free inspection once brought into a Giant Bicycle dealer. To contact the company, call (866) 458-2555.
