Warren County To Get First Elder Abuse Prevention Shelter

Posted on December 19, 2011

According to news sources, Warren County, Ohio will be getting the first elder abuse prevention shelter in the country after a local retirement center decided to make history by issuing the announcement Monday.

The Cedar Village Retirement Community has said in an announcement that it plans to establish the Shalom Center for Elder Abuse Prevention and open its doors beginning January 1, 2012. The center will give refuge to elderly victims of abuse. Now hospitals and social service agencies will reportedly be able to refer victims of elderly abuse to the prevention center.

The center will be servicing seniors aged 65 and older in the three counties of Butler, Warren and Clermont for an emergency stay period between 90 to 120 days while working to make plans for their safe discharge. The center will focus on providing services such as legal assistance, meals and recreational programs.

The Shalom Center can be contacted by calling 888-295-7453
