According to news sources, about 650 cases of Alfalfa Sprouts 5 oz. have been recalled after test results came back positive for a possible Salmonella contamination of the product.

The company, Green Valley Food Corp, announced the recall of its “Let’s Grow Healthy Together!” brand of Alfalfa Sprouts 5 oz. after a random sample came back positive for Salmonella contamination. The recalled product has a UPC number 714722228818 and a product code 3440210 that can be found on the shipping box. The Best By date of the recalled sprouts is 1/1/2012.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious or fatal infections, especially to those with weaken immune systems, the elderly, and children.

There have been no reported injuries to date.
