P&G Recalls Lams Dog Food Due To Toxin Aflatoxin

According to news sources, an unspecified number of ProActive Health Smart Puppy dog food has been recalled due to a naturally occurring by-product called Aflatoxin, which can be harmful to pets when taken in large quantities.

The company, P&G, has announced the recall in cooperation with The Food and Drug Administration after it was found that the specific dried dog food brand mentioned above contained high levels of a toxin that can be harmful to pets if consumed in large quantities. The recalled dog food has a best by date of either Feb 5 or Feb 6, 2013 and has the following UPC Code 1901402305, 1901410208, and 1901401848.

There have been no illnesses reported to date.

Consumers with the recalled product should stop using it immediately and contact P&G 866-908-1569 at for a refund.
