The Department of Transportation Launches ‘OMG’ To Educate Teens About Distracted Driving

Posted on November 28, 2011

According to recent news articles, the U.S. Department of Transportation is announcing a new public educational service that hopes to make teens aware of the dangers of texting or handling their phones while driving. The service is called ‘OMG’ and it’s a campaign that will run on more than 6,500 movie screens, 500 TV screens and Outcast’s PumpTop TV.

Other distractions that may be life-threatening for young drivers will also be addressed by the campaign. The reports from the various news sources show that the announcement will be aired during the month of December in theaters and gas stations nationwide.

The positive approach of this new campaign hopes to embed a responsible attitude into the safe driving message without making it boring to teenagers. It is a widely known fact that teens are constantly eager to go against authoritarian figures.

The videos focus on types of distractions that are usually ignored by most motorists. This effort from the U.S. Department of Transportation will try to keep the message simple so the danger of distracted driving can be eradicated among young drivers.

Car accident lawyers in Los Angeles are sadly and unfortunately very familiar with fatal accidents involving young teenagers that could have been prevented if distraction wasn’t a major factor in the incidents.

Whenever you’re involved in a car accident that was caused by a distracted driver, contact a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer to assist you with your case.
