Protecting Our Elders Is Our Duty

Posted on November 16, 2011

According to various news sources, domestic abuse and nursing home abuse affect a great number of older Americans every year. A study recently announced by the National Center on Elder Abuse, a staggering number of over 500,000 people older than 60 have reported domestic abuse in the United States.

Still, according to the news, the largest number of cases is not reported. After the State Senate signed the S4235 legislation, communities hope that the prevention of elder abuse and violence will be effective and competent.

The State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence are developing many projects that hope to prevent violence against elders not only at home but also at senior centers.

It’s no secret that an aging population needs special care. There are certain activities that an older individual cannot perform as well as before. Elders deserve not only respect from the younger generations, they mostly deserve to receive a better treatment.

As a Los Angeles wrongful death attorney, I hope that a safe environment can be a reality to the entire elder community of the United States. Whenever you or a loved one has been the victim of a personal injury or abuse of any kind, contact a personal injury lawyer to answer your questions regarding the issues you may be going through.
