Masago Recalled Due to Listeria Contamination

Yamaya USA, Inc, based out of Torrance, California, is recalling one of their food products after it was discovered it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to news reports.

The contamination was discovered by the Food and Drug Administration during a sampling. The product, Masago (Capelin Roe) was distributed to stores in Los Angeles, California; Baltimore, Maryland; Atlanta, Georgia; and Mexico.

The product come in a 2 lb plastic container with Japanese and English writing on it. The item number 09867 in imprinted on the packaging.

No illnesses have currently been reported. If you have purchased this product, do not consume it. Return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause life-threatening infections in some people. Especially at risk are the elderly, the very young, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems.
