The Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with General Electric, has issued a recall for one of their grill products due to an explosion hazard, according to recent news sources.
The product subject to recall is the GE Monogram® Pro Rangetop with Grill. About 470 have been sold. Six complaints have been made by consumers who experienced explosion problems, with reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported in relation to this recall.
The issue is with the burners located on the range that operate on propane gas. If the gas knob is left between the “off” and “lite” positions, the gas may not ignite, which increases the risk of delayed ignition, creating a potential for explosion.
The products have a stainless steel finish and are 36 or 48 inches wide. The brand is Monogram and the units were sold from May 2008 to August 2011 for about $3,400 or $4,700. Consumers who own this product can visit the CPSC website to find the affected serial numbers.
