Sony Offers In-Home Evaluation of TV with Fire Risk

Reports are suggesting that Sony has issued a recall for 1.6 million flat-panel Bravia televisions due to a fire hazard, according to recent news sources.

Sony has stated that some of the 40” Bravia LCD televisions have been shown to overheat, causing a fire or melting in some cases.

The products that are affected are model numbers KDL-40V3000, KDL-40VL130, KDL-40W3000, KDL-40WL135, KDL-40XBR4, and KDL-40XBR5.

Sony has not had any reports of injury from the nearly 400,000 that were sold in the United States. They are offering a free evaluation in the home of the product.

Eleven incidents have been reported in Japan, where a recall of the TVs was conducted in September.
