Ballard Recalls Step Stools Over Fall Hazard

Posted on October 4, 2011

Ballard Designs of Atlanta, Georgia, has issued a recall for their step stools due to a fall hazard, according to recent news sources.

The product subject to recall is the “Stafford” design. About 2,500 step stools are affected by the recall. They were sold at stores in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio, through the Ballard catalog, and on their website as well as the home shopping network website. They retailed for $80 from July 2009 through May 2011.

Six consumers complained about the stools instability, with two of them reporting minor injuries sustained from falls. The plastic tabs on the feet of the stool makes them unstable.

The stools are made of wood and black in color. On the underside, one of the following numbers is printed: 100099019, 100097230, 100100584 or 100102942

If you have one of these products, it is advised that you remove the plastic tabs on the bottom of the four feet.
