Popsicles Recalled Over Undeclared Milk Allergen

Posted on September 9, 2011

Unilever United States, Inc. has announced an immediate voluntary recall for some 24-count boxes of Popsicle brand Sugar Free Orange, Cherry and Grape flavored products. The boxes may contain other products made by the company that contain milk, which the boxes do not declare, according to news sources.

The other products that were mistakenly placed in the boxes are the Popsicle brand Sugar Free Healthy Bunch Fudgsicles or Creamsicles. Those with milk allergies or sensitivities may have a life-threatening reaction to these products.

The Fudgesicle and Creamsicle products can be identified by their individual wrapping, which is labeled with their respective names. The unit code on the box with the recalled products in it is 7756702295, and contains date codes of OCT0312GCD, OCT0412GCD, OCT0512GCD, OCT0612GCD and OCT0712GCD.

The ice pops were made in the U.S. and sold in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

No illnesses have been reported. Those who purchased the product have been asked not to consume it. Contact the company to arrange for a free replacement.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I have seen food recalls like this one and know that, with as much testing goes into food products before manufacturers send them to market, mistakes can still be made. Although our personal injury law firm does not handle these type of cases there are food recall lawyers out there that can help your or a loved one if you have been affected by a recall such as this one.
