Embark Resistance Cords, sold by Target, have been recalled after injuring three consumers, causing permanent vision loss in two, according to news sources.
Injuries occurred when the black plastic ball attached to the equipment unexpectedly released, striking the user.
About 447,000 of the Embark Resistance Cords and Cord Kits were sold from July 2009 to August 2011 at Target stores and Target.com. The products were priced from $10 to $20 dollars. The bands usually held in both hands to create tension, come in blue, green or black, with black handles and an anchor for attaching the device to the door. The anchor is comprised of a plastic back ball encased in nylon. The product is branded with the name “Embark”. The tension of the resistance cord comes in light, medium, or heavy, or you can buy a kit with all three cords.
