In a news release Friday, Whole Foods Market announced the recall of two beer-flavored marinades sold in Washington, D.C., and six mid-Atlantic states due to undeclared soy and wheat allergens on the label.
Subject to recall are 15-ounce plastic bottles of Whole Foods Market Stout Beer Marinade (UPC 000000305716) and Whole Foods Market Lager Beer Marinade (UPC 000000305723). The affected products were sold between July 3 and August 3, 2011 in Whole Foods Market stores in Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, certain New Jersey cities, and Washington, D.C.
Anyone who consumes the recalled marinades who has an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat or soy is at risk of a serious, possibly life-threatening, allergic reaction. No illnesses have been reported in connection to the recalled products.
Consumers are being notified of the recall through signage posted in Whole Foods Market stores. Anyone who has purchased the marinades affected by the recall may return the product to a Whole Foods Market store for a full refund.
