Chairs Recalled Due to Falling Hazard

Posted on July 26, 2011

In a press release, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Ross Stores Inc of Pleasanton, CA, announced the voluntary recall of their Acacia chairs due to the risk of falling.

According to Ross Stores Inc, the recall of these chairs is being initiated because they can collapse when weight is placed on them, which poses a falling hazard to those that would sit in them. The company has received five reports of the chairs collapsing, with four of those instances resulting in minor injuries.

The chairs being recalled have a natural acacia wood finish with either the SKU number 400058432585 or 400058432608 on the price tag, which is located on the front side of the chair’s seat.

The chairs were sold exclusively at Ross Stores across the nation between March 2011 and May 2011 for around $40. This recall includes about 1,200 of these chairs.

The CPSC and Ross Stores Inc recommend that consumers cease using the chairs immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I hope to make our community a little safer by making this information more readily available to our neighbors. I truly hope that no one reading this has been affected by the recall.
