The $6.4 million verdict in Kings County crushed the previous record of $1.6 million

January 19, 2011 – Today’s publication of The Daily Journal, California’s largest legal newspaper, includes Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP’s $6.45 million verdict in Crenshaw v. Land O’Lakes, Inc. among its top verdicts of 2010. The verdict is the largest personal injury verdict in the history of Kings County, California.

In Crenshaw, Brian Panish and Robert Glassman of Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP and attorney Michael Silvers represented a Corcoran State Prison correctional officer who suffered numerous broken bones and other injuries after a Land O’Lakes’ truck turned in front of his motorcycle. Mr. Crenshaw was unable to return to work as a result of his injuries. The Daily Journal article focuses on the difficulty of obtaining a large personal injury verdict in the San Joaquin Valley, which is considered a conservative venue, especially during an economic downturn. As reported in the Daily Journal, Panish said “I believe they are fair people and if you prove the case to them, they are going to give you the money.” The October 25, 2010 jury award to Mr. Crenshaw of $6,445,549.72 included $3,250,000 in non-economic damages.
