RVs Recalled By DRV Due To Possible Crash Threat

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 3, 2013

Tradition, Elite Suite, Mobile Suite and Mobile Suite Select recreational vehicles are being recalled by DRV because of an issue that could compromise road safety.  129 vehicles of the 2014 model year are affected by the recall, which was issued once it was discovered that shearing of the motor assembly screws is a possibility.  The problem, which has its genesis with a power awning motor assembly design alteration, can lead the awning to roll out while in the middle of transit.  This could lead to a crash.  Even if the vehicle is parked, the awning could still strike an individual and cause an injury.  The recall will start this month, so owners should start hearing from DRV soon.  The motors will be replaced when the vehicles are brought in.

2,336 Passport and Bullet Trailers Recalled By Keystone

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on August 12, 2013

Passport and Bullet trailers of the 2013 model year are being recalled by the Keystone RV Company due to an issue that could compromise the safety of other vehicles.  2,336 of these trailers have stabilizer jacks whose mounting fasteners may not be able to adequately do their job.  As a result, the jack itself could become dislodged from the vehicles and fall into the road while in transit.  Persons in the vicinity of the trailer could then make contact with the jack or their avoidance maneuvers could cause them to crash.  The recall should start this month, so RV owners can expect to receive a notification shortly.  The trailers can then be brought in to a dealer for new fasteners that shouldn’t suffer from the issue.

2,250 RVs Recalled By Monaco Due to Crash Hazard

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on July 11, 2013

Numerous types of Holiday Rambler and R-Vision RVs of the 2011 through 2014 model years as well as McKenzie Rainier Ascent RVs of the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled by Monaco RV.  2,250 of these vehicles could have a water tank mounting system in the trailers’ underside that’s in danger of experiencing a failure.  As a result, the water tank itself can become dislodged from the trailer and crash onto the road below, potentially compromising the safety of vehicles in the vicinity if they hit it or otherwise have to swerve to avoid it.  At some point this month, the recall will begin and owners should start hearing from Monaco.  Dealers will be offering free repairs with the goal of ensuring the water tank can be kept in place.

410 RVs Recalled By Triple E Over License Plate Visibility Issue

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on May 3, 2013

Unity, Libero L24CB, Regency GT, and Serenity S24CB recreational vehicles of the 2012 and 2013 model years have been recalled by Triple E because of an issue with the light that’s supposed to display the license plate.  On an estimated 410 of these vehicles, the light is not sufficiently bright so as to make the plate visible.  This situation is in violation of the Federal Standard governing lamps and reflective devices because it compromises the ability of persons, including law enforcement officers, to identify ownership of the RV.  The early part of this month should see the start of the recall, which will find owners being contacted by Triple E.  At that point, the RVs can be brought in to a dealer to receive the no-cost installation of a new lamp.

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on August 7, 2012

87 Dutchmen 196 and Coleman 192 recreational vehicles of the 2013 model year have been recalled by Dutchmen for a potential defect involving the propane line.  This component is too close to the rear axle hanger, and the bolt of the latter can come into contact with and damage the fuel line.  Should an ignition source be present when the subsequent leak takes place, a fire or explosion becomes a distinct possibility.  Owners will be contacted by Dutchmen and dealers will conduct the free repairs.  No word yet on when this is expected to happen.

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on August 3, 2012

Cougar 29RES and 26SAB recreational vehicles of the 2010 through 2012 model years are being recalled by Keystone.  A defect in the rear bumper is to blame.  This bumper, which holds a spare tire, is unable to endure a certain amount of metal fatigue, leading separation to potentially take place.  In such an instance, the tire or the bumper itself might come loose and possibly damage nearby vehicles.  Just over 1,000 units are being recalled, and owners of those vehicles will be notified by Keystone, after which they can obtain dealer repairs.
