The threat of a fire hazard has caused yet another product to have to be recalled.
Servpro announced the recall, which concerns a product known as the Notus air mover/blower. The item was manufactured by EDIC, a company based out of Los Angeles. The green-colored product, which is used to dry out walls and furniture in the event of some type of water damage, measures 18 inches in every direction. A total of 24,000 items could be affected by the potential defect.
That defect involves an electrical capacitor inside the unit that fails at higher rates than are acceptable. Should this failure take place, the component can overheat and the fan would suddenly pose a fire risk. One incident has already been reported to the company in which damage amounting to $475,000 was incurred by someone’s property. Three additional incidents also allegedly ended in property damage.
Servpro franchises were responsible for selling these items, and it’s Servpro who should be contacted by users seeking a repair kit. This kit will be provided at no additional charge to the consumer, who will be tasked with installing it themselves.
The product retailed from $200 to $230 when it was on sale between April 2004 and August 2010. Anyone who thinks they may have purchased the product should unplug the 25 foot cord and not use the item until it has been repaired.

According to different news sources, a recent fire investigation has put an electric car charger in the spotlight. A home that was set on fire had a unit for charging electric vehicles that was allegedly being used at the time of the fire.
Authorities and Insurance agents are looking into what could possibly have caused the accident. At this precise moment, personal Injury lawyers could assist the family that has lost over $800,000 due to the damages of the property after the fire.
Fire investigators are allegedly meeting with representatives from the energy companies and GM officials. According to the reports found in the news article, two people suffered minor injuries after they helped the residents of the damaged house to leave their property in safety.
As of now not a lot can me said about the accident, we must wait for further investigations before being entirely certain of what may have caused the accident.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I hope that the two injured neighbors are in a great condition and sincerely hope that the residents will be guided by their lawyers so their damages can be repaired and their lives mended back after such harsh tragedy.

LG Electronics, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is reannouncing a recall of dehumidifiers that have been linkedto one million dollars in property damage, according to news sources.
The dehumidifiers were first recalled in December 2009, after 11 reports were filed, four of which were serious fires. Only 2 percent of the 98,000 dehumdifiers sold were returned, meaning many consumers and their homes are still in danger. Sixteen additional reports have been filed since the initial recall, nine of which were seious fires. No serious injuries have occurred, but significant damages has been cause by the fires in several homes.
The original recall included 30 pint portable dehumidifiers of the Goldstar or Comfort-Aire brand. The product can short circuit, which poses fire and burn hazards, and has the potential to cause a serious fire. This product was sold at Home Depot, Walmart, Ace Hardware, Do It Best, Orgill Inc., among other retailers around the U.S. from January 2007 to June 2008 for about $140 to $150.
If you have one of these dehumidifiers, stop using it right away and unplug it. Consumers can contact LG for a free repair. Serial numbers of the affected models can be found here.
