Drop-side Cribs Recall, all Consumers should have their Immobilizer Kit by now

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 1, 2011

News report that the crib manufacturer Yu Wei Co. issued a recall for their items sold exclusively at JCPenney stores Nationwide. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the decision on October 5th.

The issue is due the possible suffocation and entrapment hazards that the items may pose to consumers all over the nation. It was noted that the drop-side rails from the cribs could fall out of their position as stated on the reports released by the CPSC. In the occasion of an accidental misplacement of the drop-side rails, a child could become entrapped and then possibly suffocated.

Another risk that was stated at the report was that the child could also fall from the crib.

The company has stated that these hazards may have been caused because of an allegedly incorrect assembly of the parts. CPSC has reported that the owners of the Scroll and Lauren models are advised to reach Yu Wei for a free immobilizer kit to keep the crib from malfunctioning entirely. Hopefully all consumers had time to get their kit for a safer product experience by now.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I hope that there were no accidents related to children being entrapped by this product and urge all parents to be specially watchful when it comes to their child’s sleeping arrangements. Remember to contact an efficient product liability lawyer in a timely manner if you ever find yourself dealing with a malfunctioning product that may pose health hazards.

Listeria found in Queso Cheese

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 19, 2011

After the U.S. Department of Agriculture found Queso Fresco Casero Fresh Cheese to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, Del Bueno, the manufacturer, is conducting a recall, according to a news release.

The product affected are all 16 ounce packages of the cheese with a  stamp of Sept 14, 2011. The cheese comes in round, plastic, clear containers. The product was sold in Washington and at the Pasco, WA flea market.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause life-threatening illness. Although healthy individuals usual just experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, the infection can be fatal in individuals such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. Women who are pregnant often experience still-births or miscarriages as a result of being infected.

If you’ve purchased this product, you can return it to your store of purchase for a full refund.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, consumer health is something that I am very conscious of and I know that even with tough rules and regulations on manufacturers mistakes are often made. I encourage anyone who is experiencing the symptoms of Listeria to seek immediate medical attention. The product liability lawyers at our law firm sincerely hope that no one has been sickened by consuming the recalled cheese.

Motorcycles Recalled Over Crash Hazard

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 8, 2011

KTM North America, Inc., in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall of their off-road motorcycles due to a potential crash hazard, according to news sources.

The recall affects about 6,117 bikes total. All of them are the 2011 model of the KTM and Husaberg off-road/competition motorcycles. The Austrian-manufactured bikes are white, yellow and blue and display the model name and Husaberg logo on the right and left sides. The bike was sold for between $6,200 and $9,500 at KTM and Husaberg dealers from April 2010 to May 2011.

The fall or crash hazard is related to a handlebar clamp issue. The clamp can acquire cracks over time, which shifts the handlebars from their original position. A loss of control can be the result of this situation. One rider reported injuries as a result of this issue. He was hospitalized.

If you are in possession of one of these bikes, you should contact your KTM or Husaberg dealer to arrange for replacement handlebars.
