Light up The Night -

Event Distributes Free Lights To Bicycle Riders in San Francisco

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 15, 2011

According to various news articles, the city San Francisco saw thousands of bike lights and other bike safety materials being distributed during the past two days.

The SF Bicycle and SFMTA volunteers distributed numerous items in an event called “Light up the Night” that happened throughout the city. According to the articles, the end of the Daylight Saving Time leaves those commuters riding their bikes in the dark without warning. A safety kit and bike lights that make bikers’ presence obvious for drivers on the road are crucial for the safety of commuters.

According to the law, bikers must have night-lights, one front light and one rear red light. The SFBC reported that this year’s lights are better and brighter than ever before.

During the event, volunteers installed the lights for the bikers and made sure to spread information regarding regulations and bicycle safety rights. The number of bike riders in San Francisco has been growing tremendously, the community must make sure all riders know the law and know about safety before risking themselves.

According to the article, all the educational material is being distributed in English, Spanish and Mandarin.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, I wish that more events like the “Light up the Night” could be a reality all over the Country. Bike safety is a great priority to all personal injury lawyers, I urge readers to be educated when it comes to road safety regardless of the type of vehicle you own, be it a car, a motorcycle or a bicycle, safety comes first.
