Farm Glass & Metal Spiral Tea Light Holders imported by the Middleboro, Massachusetts-based Nantucket Distributing Company are being recalled due to a possible fire hazard associated with the product’s use.
The recalled spiral tea light holder features red, orange and green flowers painted on glass. The product, which was produced in China, has a UPC number of 000015931955. This number is displayed on the bottom of the item. Tea lights can be contained within the item by way of a metal insert meant to display the lights within the glass body of the structure. The recalled spiral tea lights were sold at Christmas Tree Shops throughout the country between July and March of last year.
At issue is a fault with the product’s design. The lights can burn higher than what would be considered safe, and as such, persons using these lights are put at risk of being burned themselves. Already the firm has received one report of a customer’s hand sustaining a burn due to a heightened flame.
Consumers who may be in possession of one or more of the 6,200 or so tea light holders affected by the recall are being advised to discontinue use immediately and return the item to any nearby Christmas Tree Shop. A full refund is being issed on the product.
I’m sorry to see any product pose a danger as a personal injury attorney in Los Angeles. It’s my desire that all products be safe for use, and barring that, I hope as a Fresno personal injury lawyer that everyone pays close attention to recall information so they can avert disaster.

The threat of food infection has reared its head again, prompting the recall of an item widely available throughout New York.
Honeoye Falls, New York-based Alfa Sprouts initiated the recall, which affects Organic Alfalfa Sprouts of the Springwater Sprouts brand and 3# Clover Sprouts available for purchase in bulk. The former item comes in a four ounce clam shell package and has a 4/28/2012 sell by date. The latter has a production code of P93. Although both products were available in New York, the Clover Sprouts were only shipped to upstate New York. More than 100 pounds of product is affected by this recall.
The safety issue comes from the threat of listeriosis. Testing conducted by inspectors from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets showed that the sprouts had been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This was confirmed by officials with the Food Laboratory.
There have yet to be reported illnesses in conjunction with the sprout contamination. Listeriosis can cause nausea, fever, or abdominal pain in healthy people, but the infection risk it poses to those with a weakened immune system can be deadly. Those who have purchased the compromised product can return it for a complete refund.
Being a Fresno personal injury lawyer, I’m disturbed by the numerous recalls issued every week. This story is no different. I hope as a personal injury attorney in Los Angeles that the threat of infection remains just that, a threat, and that it does not get the chance to become reality.

Another children’s clothing item is being recalled due to a possible entanglement hazard.
The recall was announced by New York-based Louise Paris. It concerns 13,000 “Me Jane” and “B-Hip Kids by MeJane” jackets. These jackets have what’s described as a faux fur trim and were imported from China. They were sold across the country at Ross retail stores between November and January. The items retailed for around $20.
The defect concerns the jackets’ waist drawstrings. Following 15 years of guidelines and voluntary standards issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in regard to the dangers of drawstrings, the organization finally announced an official regulation on these items in 2011. The jackets involved in the recall do not meet this relatively new standard. Their drawstrings pose an entanglement hazard to the child wearing the item.
Thankfully, there haven’t been any reported injuries in conjunction with this recall. However, consumers are being urged by the company to immediately disconnect the drawstrings from the jackets in order to make the item safe for use. Parents can contact Louise Paris for refund instructions.
This is the second drawstring-related recall issued today. I’m sad to see this safety breach as a personal injury attorney in San Francisco. Guidelines that govern clothing safety are vital to protecting children, and I hate to see some article of clothing be in breach of those guidelines. It’s my wish as a Fresno personal injury lawyer that all of these items get returned or corrected before an injury occurs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and other highway safety organizations are hoping that technology combined with new policies can make automobile accidents a thing of the past.
This incredibly ambitious goal actually has a name, and that name is Toward Zero Deaths, or TZD. Using data from across the country in order to aid enforcement officials and mandate new safety standards, the NHTSA and various state departments of transportation think that they can prevent almost all car accidents in the future. They want the current rate of 1.14 fatalities per one million vehicle miles traveled to be brought down as low as it could possibly go.
To aid the TZD initiative, officials utilize what’s known as the Four E’s. This involves improving safety by improving enforcement, education, engineering, and emergency medical services. An analysis of the data that governs these four areas can help officials get a grasp on the problems along the highway and how to fix them.
All different sorts of analytics can help officials in determining new safety guidelines. We can now look at data regarding traffic volume, medical response times, education campaign success, and crash investigation, among other things. This allows numerous safety officials across different organizations to identify driving trends and correct problem areas.
Technological innovation is an important part of safety, and as a car accident lawyer in Fresno, I hope we can make great strides in keeping highways fit for travel. I know how vital such measures are as a Fresno personal injury lawyer.

Dole Food has announced a voluntary recall of more than 750 cases of bagged salad mix due to the possibility that they have become contaminated with salmonella.
Dole Food is recalling 756 cases of bagged salad because they could be contaminated with salmonella. The bagged salad mix affected by this recall was distributed under the Seven Lettuces brand name, and the bag has been stamped with a use-by date of April 11, 2012 and product codes 0577N089112A and 0577N089112B, visible in the upper right hand corner of the bag. The product bears universal price code 71430 01057, which can be found on the back of the bag.
The bagged salad mixes affected by this recall were distributed for sale in retail outlets in Alabama, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Wisconsin, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The recall was initiated in response to an incident in which the salad mixes tested by the state of New York’s health department came back positive for the presence of salmonella. The purchasers of bags affected by this recall should discard them immediately, as they may be contaminated with salmonella, a condition that can lead to stomach cramps, diarrhea, and fever within 72 hours of consuming a contaminated food product.
As a personal injury attorney in San Bernardino, I hope this product is successfully recalled before anyone is made ill by it. If you or someone you love has been harmed by a defective or contaminated product, please consider contacting a Fresno personal injury lawyer.

News broke today about a recall on a crib that might be dangerous for the child within it.
The recall concerns a number of Rockland Furniture drop-side cribs manufactured by Nan Far Woodworking. Specifically, the affected models are called the Cottage Standard, the Nightingale Spindle, the Renew Standard, the Renew Convertible, and a model that’s simply called the Drop-Side Crib and Changer. 16,700 units are affected.
Five reports have come into the Consumer Product Safety Commission in which the drop sides malfunctioned. In one of these instances, the child became stuck, suffering minor injuries.
The hazard from these products is twofold. The child can become wedged in the space left by the defective drop sides, which would put him or her at risk of suffocating. The second risk comes from the child falling out of the crib and sustaining damage. Extensive use and poor assembly can further contribute to the risk of a crib failure.
The items were only sold through JC Penney, where they retailed from $150 to $400 between 2005 and 2008. Consumers are advised to have their children sleep elsewhere until they can get in touch with Nan Far Woodworking, who have pledged to provide a repair kit at no charge.
I find children’s product recalls to be particularly maddening as a Fresno personal injury lawyer. Parents rely on companies that make children’s products to keep their little ones safe, and they shouldn’t have to worry that that trust is being compromised. Considering that cribs often get passed around to multiple families, I hope as a San Jose personal injury attorney that no one unwittingly uses this crib without the proper repairs being made.

The Food and Drug Administration is doing what it can to prevent animals from becoming resistant to antibiotics that ought to help stave off infections.
For years now, various livestock producers have been using antibiotics to make animals such as cattle grow larger so as to improve food output, or else to improve feed efficiency. The problem with this practice is that those animals can begin to develop a resistance to the very antibiotics meant to make animals healthier and heartier. Therefore, when an animal actually does get sick, those same antibiotics are much less effective at curing the illness.
To combat this, the FDA today announced three documents that are going to be laying out new guidelines for livestock producers to follow in order to ensure the health of so-called food producing animals.
The first is meant to act as guidance in how producers can phase out the usage of such antibiotics. It calls for veterinarians to be brought in to supervise the application of antibiotics in instances where animals really are sick. The second document will advise drug companies on how they ought to remove from their labels statements touting their usage in food production, putting in its place information about veterinarian-assisted illness treatment. The third is a proposal for how vets can determine how to efficiently permit antibiotic usage among animals.
I’ll be paying attention to this story as a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer. This is a step that many activists have been trying to get the FDA to enact for some time, and no matter what happens, I just hope as a Fresno personal injury lawyer that it keeps humans and animals alike safe.

A number of products that end up being recalled on American shores actually come from China, which is why I was glad to see steps taken to reduce safety hazards in our partner country overseas.
The Food and Drug Administration is increasing its efforts to train Chinese regulators in conducting safety inspections at manufacturing plants and on improving safety measures across the board. In 2008, the FDA established a 13 person office in the city of Beijing, and since then, they have worked closely with Chinese officials to ensure that products released in both countries are considered fit for consumption.
In September, the FDA conducted a workshop meant to show how the United States approaches inspections. Much of the focus was placed on how to evaluate machinery maintenance, labeling, and item packaging specifications. A mock investigation was held so that Chinese regulators could get a bird’s-eye view of inspection proceedings.
The increased partnership is a direct result of a number of health scares in 2007 and 2008 caused by items made in China. Numerous countries were rocked by contaminations in products as varied as blood thinners, pet food, toothpaste, seafood, and baby food. In 2011, 24 million import shipments of various goods arrived in the US, making solving such safety issues a priority.
I’m glad to see global partnership as a Fresno personal injury lawyer. These types of close relationships are beneficial to all involved, and if it can save even one life, then I’m quite pleased as a personal injury attorney in San Diego.

Police and other law enforcement agencies in Ontario Canada, recently conducted a two day plan of action focused on increasing truck safety via an intensified enforcement of traffic law applied to commercial trucking vehicles. The joint-effort program includes thorough safety inspections of tow truck, big rigs, tractor trailers, and other large vehicles. The agencies and police officers will also be conducting backgroud checks on the drivers of these vehicles, as part of the effort called Project Spring Clean Up. Police and other law enforcement officials will be on the lookout for overly aggressive drivers, vehicles that are in unsafe mechanical condition, improperly secured cargo, or vehicles hauling illegal loads. The project’s main headquarters is located at Woodbine race track.
The Ontario Provincial Police, along with the Toronto Police Department and officers from Peel, Halton, York, Guelph, and Waterloo law enforcement agencies also play a part in the crackdown, along with officials from the transportation, environment, and revenue ministries and the bylaw office of the City of Toronto.
As a Fresno car accident lawyer, I sincerely hope that the effort conducted by Ontaro law enforcement officer is successful in making the roads safer for everyone, and possibly preventing unsafe drivers from crossing the border into the United States. If you or someone you love has been injured in an auto accident, please consider hiring a Fresno personal injury lawyer.

Wardley Advanced Nutrition Perfect Protein Tropical Flake Fish Food has been voluntarily recalled by its manufacturer, the Hartz Mountain Corporation of Secaucus, New Jersey, because of a risk of salmonella contamination.
An unknown number of units of the one ounce variety of this fish food may have come in contact with the foodborne organism Salmonella, known to trigger severe and possibly deadly infections in those with weakened immune systems, as well as children and the elderly.
Animals eating the product can become infected, as well as pet owners who come into contact with it in the course of feeding their fish. The risk for infection becomes significantly higher if the pet owner fails to wash his or her hands after handling the fish food.
The symptoms of salmonella include: stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. There is also a possibility that the organism will enter the circulatory system causing further harm and more serious sickness. The fish food containers affected by this recall, more than 7,000 in all, bear UPC code 0-43324-00591-7, and originated from lot numbers PP34911, PP34912, PP35011 and PP35012.
This potential contamination poses a health threat to both pets and their owners, and as a Fresno personal injury lawyer, I hope this information reaches the public in time to prevent anyone from becoming ill. If you or someone you love has been harmed by a defective or contaminated product please consider consulting a Long Beach personal injury attorney.
