$7.2 Million Settlement For Children Of Woman Killed in Collision With San Bernardino County Sheriff

Posted on November 25, 2014

Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP attorneys Adam Shea and Ryan Casey obtained a $7,205,000 settlement for four children whose mother was killed when the car in which she was a passenger was rear ended by a San Bernardino County Sheriff.

Vanessa Rosales and her son were being driven to their car by an acquaintance when the car was suddenly slammed into from behind by a San Bernardino County Sheriff patrol vehicle.  The impact caused by the Sheriff’s vehicle propelled the car into oncoming traffic where it was struck head-on by a Mercedes.  Ms. Rosales died and her son was seriously injured in the accident.  During discovery it was learned that the Sheriff had been accessing his personal phone to play music, manually rebooting his police computer, and diverting his attention away from the roadway immediately before the collision.  The plaintiffs were also represented in the case by Neil Steiner of Steiner & Libo.
